Here’s a lovely piece on using good old calculus to determine the optimal time to say “I love you” for the first time. Fans of xkcd will adore it, I think. There are parts that my calculus-deficient sister and others like her might need to skim over (though I think saying that guarantees that Jill will make the effort), but overall, it’s short, punchy and not too dense. Like my dream girl!

However we decide to shorten “green blogging,” Kate’s doing it for NRDC these days. How many blogs do you read with tags like “abalone,” “eelgrass,” and “AB1187,” anyway? I was all set to complain about the lack of RSS feeds, but then I saw them sitting shyly in the corner. Go go go!
My Charlie Brown moment
It was perfect. I was walking – trudging, maybe? – from my house to a coffee shop to work in the cold, grey, bleak, windy autumn that I love so much, and feeling sorry for myself in that hilariously narcissistic, perspective-free fashion that is my birthright as an American. I could just barely hear a sad piano and children’s chorus punching up my woes, but just as I reached the crescendo of fake despair, a bird shit on my shoulder and tipped me all the way over into absurdity, my BFF of emotions. Plus it’s a great excuse to post this picture you’ve already seen:

I was always more of a Linus fan, so the change of mood was welcome for many reasons. And dig the security hanky, which seems to make Anime Linus pretty vanilla, if I read my Internet hanky code cheat sheet right. (no link – do I have to do everything for you?)
For some reason
I can’t stop saying “I don’t have time for the jibba-jabba.” What is he trying to tell me?
